Established by the Hunter family in 1997, Sanguine is a family-run boutique winery situated in the rich undulating fields within the shadows of Mt Ida, in the Heathcote region of Central Victoria.
All Sanguine Estate wines are produced using traditional winemaking techniques to ensure the preservation of natural fruit flavours and to allow the famed Heathcote terroir character to show through in the wines. Grapes are destemmed, lightly crushed and then naturally fermented with wild indigenous yeasts in small open fermenters, before being gravity fed (to avoid pump shock) to predominantly French oak for approximately 12 months.
The Sanguine Progeny Shiraz shows mouth filling bramble & blackberries notes, a hint of pepper & dried herbs, with earthy notes and well-integrated oak. It’s plush, with subtle tannin and a balanced acidity driving the finish.
